"March of 2021 we faced a huge staffing shortage. During this shortage we had two operators out on Maternity Leave and then we had two operators out with COVID. Which left us even shorter on staff and the operators we had working were pulling 60, 72, and sometimes even more hours a week. Even though they were exhausted, our team of dispatchers stayed the course and worked together as a team to give each other days off when they could or split shifts, so someone could get a break from working 12 hour shifts all the time. 2021 was a hard year for us, but I'm so proud of my team for sticking with us and not giving up when it seemed like we just couldn't find applicants who wanted to work. I'm truly thankful to be a part of Decatur-Grady and even more thankful for my dedicated dispatchers who work hard everyday to serve the citizens of our counties."
