You're Probably Not CJIS Certified. Here's Why. (For Vendors and Service Providers)
As a vendor who supports criminal justice and law enforcement, you probably keep hearing questions about whether or not your services, products, or solutions are CJIS compliant.
Knowing that you have to comply with the FBI CJIS security policy, your next step would naturally be to look for a way to prove that your company or service is CJIS compliant, maybe through a CJIS certification.
So how do you become CJIS certified?
Short answer: you can’t. There is no official certifying body approved by the FBI.
But don’t worry, there is another answer!
Our CJIS ACE team has created the first and only industry standard assessment of FBI CJIS Security Policy compliance for organizations. After completing the assessment, your organization could be awarded the CJIS ACE Compliance Seal.
The CJIS ACE Compliance seal is the closest thing you can get to a “CJIS Certification.”
When your company is awarded the CJIS ACE Compliance Seal, it demonstrates to your clients and the CJIS community that you understand and are committed to FBI CJIS Security Policy compliance.
But, how do you earn the seal? Read on to find out...
The CJIS ACE Compliance Seal is awarded exclusively to companies (vendors/contractors) who provide criminal justice and law enforcement agencies with products and services. To earn the seal, you must complete the exclusive CJIS ACE compliance assessment process.
During the compliance assessment process, one of our ACEs (Audit and Compliance Experts) will sit down with your company and thoroughly review all the “shall statements” within the CJIS Security Policy (yes, all 560+ shall statements). We will make sure you and your staff understand what is being asked and determine your current level of compliance.
Then, the CJIS ACE team will deliver a report-card-style Compliance Profile for your company so that you can have a clear understanding of your compliance. We’ll also provide you with a Mitigation Strategy and Plan Report which will provide recommendations and information to improve your organization’s overall compliance.
The CJIS ACE team will be with you every step of the way as you make the commitment toward CJIS Security Policy compliance.
At the conclusion of the process, your company will have earned the right to proudly display the CJIS ACE Compliance Seal.
